Setting Up and Running a Business in Albania

Foreigners, either juridical or physical persons, enjoy the right of exercising different economic activities in the Republic of Albania and to invest their capital in different sectors of the Albanian economy. They are allowed to participate in economic activity and carry out investments in Albania, generally enjoying no less favorable conditions than those given to Albanian nationals, with the exception of some limitations on the rights of land ownership.

The government of Albania has a protective program of investment promotions and is currently cooperating with a number of international donors in a number of programs to assist in business development activities in support of both democratic activities and foreign investment, including creation of business friendly one-stop permitting centers, tax reform and elimination of corruption in government.

The GOA directly supports Direct Foreign Investment through ALBINVEST, an agency which provides information of particular interest to investors.
