Levies 1% Customs Handling Tax
As of Tuesday, July 23, a 1% customs-handling fee is in effect for
all Albanian imports, and a 3 Lek/liter tax is in effect for all
fuel imports. The Albanian government expects to generate US$ 30
million from these taxes annually. This money will fund the construction
of the Durres-Kukes road, and the taxes will be discontinued when
the road is completed in two years. Albanian economists don't expect
these taxes to influence the price of consumption goods. (Source:
